ACTA MÉDICA PERUANA is the scientific
journal of the Colegio Médico del Perú. Its objective is to disseminate
medical knowledge among its collegiate members and interested
professionals. Articles for the Acta Médica Peruana must be submitted
following these rules:
• Address issues related to the area of
biomedical sciences.
• Must be original and unpublished.
• Should Belong to one of the following categories:
o Editorial.
o Original Papers.
o Review Topics.
o Report of Cases.
o Specialty Items:- Consensus and or Disputes.
o History of Medicine.
o Pictures Gallery.
o Letters to the Editor.
• Must be accompanied by a letter
signed by the principal investigator to the Director of the journal Acta
Medica Peruana, Dr. Ciro Maguiña Vargas

requesting evaluation for publication, including title of the work,
authors’ full name, type of work, certification that the work is
original, has not been published in another journal and has not been
submitted for evaluation for publication in another journal.
• Adjuntar declaración jurada firmada por todos los autores (según
formato establecido), en la que declaran que el artículo presentado es
propiedad de los autores e inédito y que no ha sido publicado ni
difundido, ni presentado para publicación a otra revista, cediendo los
derechos de autor a la revista Acta Médica Peruana una vez que el
manuscrito sea aceptado para su publicación.
• Attach affidavit signed by all authors (according to established form),
indicating that the article presented is property of said authors, is
unpublished and has not been published or disseminated, or submitted for
publication to another journal, giving copyright to the journal Acta
Médica Peruana once the manuscript is accepted for publication.
• Must be written in Spanish and printed on ISOA4 (212 x 297 mm) bond
paper, single-sided, double spaced, with margins of 3 cm, Times New
Roman font, size 12.
• Each component of the manuscript should begin on a separate page,
sorted and numbered consecutively.
• Text on the first page must be presented in the following order:
• Title in Spanish and English, with author (s) full names (Surnames and
name), institutional affiliation (s), city and country. References to
the institutional affiliation of the author should be done in Arabic
numerals and superscript, coinciding with the order to be included at
the bottom of the text on the first page by a horizontal line.
• Names of the authors must be separated by a comma and a period at the
end of the last author.
• Name of the institution (s) where the work was performed.
• Name, address, phone, fax and email of author responsible for
correspondence (at the end of the article)
• The title should be clear, precise and concise and reflect important
aspects or the goal of and a period must be placed at the end of the
last author.
• Summary in Spanish and English (with key words).
• Tables and figures should not be inserted into the article, should be
placed at the end of the text on a separate page with an appropriate
heading and in the order of appearance according to the respective
references. Drawings, maps, photographs or graphics ordered with Arabic
numerals are considered as Figures. In the case of conventional photos
or drawings a number should be written in the back of each one at the
upper right corner together with the author and title of the article.
The legend of each figure should be placed at the bottom and for tables
at the top. The legends of photomicrographs must also indicate the
optical magnification and the method of coloring
• Maps should also have a scale. The Editorial Committee of the Journal
reserves the right to limit the number of illustrations.
• Bibliographic references are only those that have been cited in the
text, ordered consecutively as they arise and according to the Vancouver
rules

• Acknowledgments to individuals or
institutions, who have somehow contributed to the drafting of their work,
will appear before the references.
• Three original printed versions and an electronic copy on a floppy
disk or CD muste be handled, using Word for Windows and MS-Excel for
graphics, images and maps must be saved in TIFF format at a resolution
greater than 500 dpi. You must attach the conventional photographic
prints and originals with the best resolution.
PRESENTATION SCHEMES
EDITORIAL
The editorial is written by invitation of the Editorial Board of the
Acta Médica Peruana journal. The total length of the manuscript should
not exceed two single-sided double-spaced pages.
The editorial is an opinion on a specific topic by an expert in the area
and has no references.
ORIGINAL WORKS (scientific or primary)
Deben ser redactados colocando en orden los siguientes ítems y en letras
mayúsculas a excepción del título:

La extensión total del manuscrito,
incluyendo las referencias bibliográficas, no será mayor de 12 páginas
escritas en una sola cara a doble espacio.
The total length of the manuscript, including bibliographic references
will not exceed 12 pages written only on one side, double spaced.
The summary and abstract will be presented in separate sheets, with a
maximum of 250 words in one paragraph and then add 3 to 6 keywords to
help classify the article. The abstract should end with the key words).

A maximum of ten (10) figures or tables per article will be accepted.
Tables and figures should not be inserted into the article, should be
placed at end of the text on a separate sheet with an appropriate
heading and in the order of appearance of the respective references. The
calls to the references in parentheses should be placed in order of
appearance in the respective section. A maximum of 50 References will be
allowed.
REVIEW TOPICS
Review Topics will be drafted by invitation of the Editorial Board of
the Acta Médica Peruana journal.
The Editorial Board of the Acta Médica Peruana reserves the right to
limit the extent of the issue of revision and the number of references,
taking into account the size and number of items developed in the
content.
CASE REPORTS
Must be written by placing the following items in order and in capitals,
except the title:

The total length of work, including the
references, should not exceed six (6) pages in a single-sided double-spaced
paper.
The summary and abstract will be presented in separate sheets, with a
maximum of 150 words, including the title in English and adding three
keywords after the summary.

Se aceptarán como máximo cuatro (4) tablas o figuras. Las tablas o
figuras no deben estar insertados dentro del artículo, deben colocarse
al final del texto, en página aparte con él título correspondiente y en
el orden de aparición de los llamados respectivos. Los llamados hacia
las referencias bibliográficas se deben colocar entre paréntesis en el
orden de aparición de la sección respectiva. El máximo de referencias
bibliográficas permitidas es de 30.

SPECIAL ARTICLES
This section will include topics of consensus and / or controversy.
Special topics will be requested at the invitation of the Editorial
Board of the journal Acta Medica Peruana. The Editorial Board of the
Acta Médica Peruana journal reserves the right to limit the extension of
the special theme and the number of references, taking into account
their size and number of items developed in the table of contents.
TOPICS OF THE HISTORY OF MEDICINE
This section will include topics of historical review with relevance in
the field of medicine. The work should not exceed 12 pages including
references. However, the Editorial Board of the Acta Médica Peruana
journal reserves the right to limit the extension of full historical
review and the number of references, taking into account the size and
number of items developed in the table of contents.
GALLERY
These are photos of interest on a particular health topic, accompanied
by a brief summary and an explanation of the origin of the work
submitted. In addition, photos must be accompanied by an explanatory
legend. The Editorial Board of the Acta Médica Peruana journal reserves
the right to limit the number of pictures or select the ones they
consider most relevant.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Should be prepared according to the following scheme:

Letters to the Editor are not an article and the extension should not
exceed two pages.
DESIGN OF TABLES AND FIGURES OR GRAPHICS OR PHOTOS
Tables serve to exhibit a series of interrelated data and display
results that cannot express themselves clearly through the text. They
must have a clear short title, written in Arial and should be numbered
in the order they appear in the text, eg Table 1. Do not use vertical
lines in the body of the tables only three horizontal lines: one after
the title, the other one after the n headings and the last at the end.
Graphics and photos must be submitted individually outside the text in
Word and with a high resolution TIFF format or otherwise attach photos
or original slides.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES
Should only refer to those in the text of the paper. You must cite the
references consecutively in order of appearance in the text and then
include them in the corresponding numbered list with full bibliographic
information at the end of the document, written in accordance with the
Vancouver rules, available online at

Use superscripts, such as: (1) or (2, 5). These cites preceded by a
space, are placed before the period, comma or other punctuation. The
mention of personal communications and unpublished documents should be
avoided.
ARTICLES IN JOURNALS
The name of the author or corporate author should appear first, placing
the surname of each author followed by the initial of the name and
including up to six authors, separated by commas; if more than six, the
first three must be recorded and add "et al". A period should be placed
after the initial of the last author name and then cite the title in
language of origin, ending with a period. Then, the name of the magazine
(in an internationally recognized abbreviation) and the year of
publication followed by a semicolon, then the volume number followed by
the number of publication in parentheses and a colon, ending with pages
where the article appears and an period.
BOOKS
Author and/or co-authors (presented in the same manner as for original
articles), book title, edition, name of town where the book was edited,
colon, publisher name, comma, year of publication, colon and number of
pages viewed accessed.
BOOKS CHAPTERS, BROCHURES AND SIMILAR
Primero debe aparecer el nombre del autor o autor corporativo, colocando
el apellido de cada autor seguido de la inicial del nombre, pueden
citarse hasta seis autores, separados por comas; si son más de seis se
anotarán los tres primeros y se agregará “et al”, se debe colocar un
punto al final de la inicial del nombre del último autor y a
continuación se citará el título del artículo en el idioma de origen
terminando en punto seguido y luego la preposición “ En: “, seguida del
nombre del autor y/o coautores (presentados en igual forma que para los
artículos originales), título del libro, ciudad donde se editó el libro,
dos puntos, nombre de la Editorial, punto y coma, año de publicación,
dos puntos y el número de las páginas consultadas.

The websites as they appear in the references, must be accompanied by
