Abstract
CRUZ, Germán Arellano. Some contributions of the Arthropod Ecology Laboratory, Department of Biology of the National Agrarian University La Molina, in biological control and diversity. Ecol. apl. The Arthropod Ecology Laboratory (LEA) is a research laboratory that develops projects on continental arthropods in order to do applied science in Ecology, which provides accurate information on the functioning of ecosystems. The basic lines of research have been established on biological control with parasitoid insects and the diversity of arthropods in general. The objective of this note is to show the results of works carried out in the LEA, on the biology of two parasitoids and the diversity of arthropods from different points of view. The information was analyzed by reviewing publications such as scientific articles and theses executed by members who belong or have belonged to the LEA. As results in this note we have two biology of parasitoids in which life cycles were studied. Regarding arthropod diversity, we have patterns of spatio-temporal variation, equivalences between temporal areas of diversity, response of epigean spiders to the El Niño 97-98 phenomenon, diversity of "cigarritas", pineapple pests, among others.
Keywords : biological control; parasitoids; diversity of arthropods; cigarritas.
