Abstract
MELENDEZ RODRIGUEZ, Deyvi; BLAS CERDAN, Willian; SALDANA JIMENEZ, José and ZAVALETA ESPEJO, Gina. Leishmanicidal effect of the butanolic extract of Peperomia dolabriformis (Piperaceae). Arnaldoa [online]. 2022, vol.29, n.1, pp.205-216. ISSN 1815-8242. http://dx.doi.org/10.22497/arnaldoa.291.29113.
The aim was to evaluate the leishmanicidal effect of the butanolic extract of Peperomia dolabriformis (Piperaceae) on the viability of the Leishmania peruviana promastigotes strain LC-26. The extract was obtained using Soxhlet equipment with 70% diluted butanol solvent with Milli Q water. For each 100 g of pulverized sample was added 1 liter of solvent which was then evaporated in a gas extractor. The leishmanicidal effect was carried out in a single-phase culture at a concentration of 106 promastigotes/mL of L. peruviana. The negative control was phosphate buffer. The experimental groups of the butanolic extract of P. dolabriformis at concentrations of 0.009 mg/mL, 0.09 mg/mL and 0.9 mg/mL, respectively, were incubated at 27 °C for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. The leishmanicidal effect showed efficacy of 100% mortality at a concentration of 0.9 mg/mL.
