Resumen

CRUZADO, Lizardo; CORDOVA, Rubén  y  VIZCARRA, Óscar. Visceral and cenesthopathic hallucinations in the differential diagnosis of unexplained medical symptoms. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2012, vol.23, n.3, pp.193-198. ISSN 1018-130X.

Unexplained medical symptoms represent an important percentage of medical consultations and result in a significant investment of resources and personal suffering. A considerable proportion of these symptoms are attributed to the somatomorphic disorder categories, but may also be attributed to anxiety and depressive disorders. We present, from the psychiatric perspective, a semiological approach to patients with psychosomatic symptoms applicable to general practitioners and other medical specialties. To meet this objective, we collected information from five patients with psychosis affected by prominent visceral and cenesthopathic hallucinations and briefly summarized the psychopathologic features of these hallucinatory phenomena.

Palabras clave : Somatic hallucinations; psychotic disorders; schizophrenia; differential diagnosis.
