OCHOA-VIGO, Kattia et al. Perception and attitudes of the nursing students on their training in research. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2016, vol.27, n.4, pp.204-215. ISSN 1018-130X. http://dx.doi.org/10.20453/rmh.v27i4.2989.
Objectives: To evaluate the perception and attitudes of nursing students on their training in research in universities of Lima and provinces, and to determine differences by universities. Methods: Multicenter cross-sectional study conducted in 3 universities in Lima and one of the interior of the country. The target population was students between 8th and 10th cycles, the universe was 556 students. An structured questionnaire was applied to all participants. Results: most of the students were single females with a mean age of 24.07 years. Regarding perception, the students agreed on the need to reinforce research, they received research courses as part of the curricula and realize that research should focus on sanitary problems. Regarding attitudes, the student agreed upon more investment by the universities on research, and most of them considered to publish their observations at the end of their careers. A direct relationship was observed between perception and attitude (p<0.001), being perception and attitudes more favorable in public universities. Conclusions: More than 65% of nursing students had a positive perception and favorable attitude towards their training in research, with a direct relationship between these two variables. Training in research should be reinforced particularly during the first years of the nursing career.
