OVELAR FERNANDEZ, Walter Daniel  e  RIVEROS QUINTANA, Ricardo Ignacio. Mission statements of issuing companies on Asuncion’s Stock Exchange, Paraguay. Quipukamayoc [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.60, pp.9-18.  Epub 31-Ago-2021. ISSN 1560-9103.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15381/quipu.v29i60.20160.

Objective:

To know the quality of the mission statements of the companies issuing securities in the Bolsa de Valores y Productos de Asunción Sociedad Anónima (BVPASA) by evaluating the components and their stakeholders.

Method:

The research was qualitative, obtaining the mission statements directly from the websites of the 30 selected companies. To know the mission statements’ quality, the Pearce and David model was chosen and worked out with content analysis. These authors state that, in order for a mission statement to be of high quality, it must have nine main components.

Results:

There were two: a) the average of the nine components presented in the mission statements goes up to 37%; and b) the percentage of stakeholders identified in the mission statements was of 24%.

Conclusion:

The companies’ mission statements do not fit the selected model and do not mention the most important stakeholders; therefore, they lack of quality.
