This article aimed to investigate how the Solidarity Economy and Community Banks can contribute to Regional Development, through the promotion of public initiatives. The method used was a systematic review of the literature in a structured way, combined with a bibliometric analysis using the Bibliometrix software. For this research, 1,216 documents were identified regarding the objective of the study and after the inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in 31 analyzed scientific articles. The conclusions pointed to a growing scientific production over the years, in addition to a significant relationship of this theme that impacts on regional development and, in Brazil, it is incipient to this debate. In this way, greater involvement of public authorities and residents is needed in the substantial expansion of this economic proposal.
