We describe and illustrate in detail Browallia truxillana S. Leiva, Florián & Tantalean (Solanaceae), a new species from northern Peru. Browallia truxillana is found in the Lomas del Cerro Campana Private Conservation Area, North Pan-American Highway km 560-580, Huanchaco district, province of Trujillo, region of La Libertad, Peru, between 7º59´06.5"-7º59´07.2" S and 79º06´03.6"-79º06´11.5" W, and between 679-705 m of altitude. It is characterized mainly by its flowers arranged in racemes, the indument of its floral organs, style included, corolla purple and yellow externally and purple internally, 14-15 mm (between the larger lobe and the two inferior lobes) and 16-16.2 mm (between the two lateral lobes) of limb diameter at anthesis, capsule obconical erect, surrounded by a covering of rigid transparent eglandular hairs in the distal quarter, 5-6 mm long and 3.2-3.3 mm of diameter. We include data of geographic distribution, ecology, phenology, current status and relations with other similar species
