The aim of the present study was to identify the forest species affected in the forest fires that occurred in the Chachapoyas and Luya Provinces of the Amazon region in the period 2016 and 2019 according to the Environmental Specialized Prosecutor’s Office. The study was descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional and retrospective, the sample consisted of 24 tax files on fires in the provinces of Chachapoyas and Luya, being selected by a non-probabilistic sampling; The instrument applied was a data collection sheet prepared by the researcher. In 45.8% (11) of the fires, "pine" forest species Pinus patula Schltdl. & Cham. (Pinaceae) were affected and in 37.5% (9) "eucalyptus" Eucalyptus globulus Labill. (Myrtaceae), these being the two most affected species. On the other hand, it is observed that of 100% (24) of fires, 20.8% occurred in the province of Chachapoyas, affecting between 5 and 10 hectares (ha), in the same way 16.7% of fires occurred in Luya, affecting 1 to 3 hectares (ha). A total of 342.50 ha were affected in a total of 24 fires, with the average number of hectares affected by fire: 14.27 ha; being in Chachapoyas greater affectation with a total of 236.50 ha and the province of Luya with a total of 106 ha. For this, the most affected species in forest fires were: "pine" (Pinus patula Schltdl. & Cham.), "eucalyptus" (Eucalyptus globulus Labill.), "alder" (Alnus acuminata Kunth), "huarango" (Prosopis pallida (Humb. & Bonpl. ex Willd.) Kunth), "morocho" (Myrsine oligophylla Zahlbr.), "cedar" (Cedrela odorata L.), "ishpingo" (Amburana cearensis (Allemão) A. C. Sm.), "lucmito" (Hyeronima andina Pax & K. Hoffm.), "tara" (Caesalpinia spinosa (Molina) Kuntze).
