Abstract

FIESTAS-TEQUE, Luis. Pica in severe anemia: A case report. Rev Neuropsiquiatr [online]. 2014, vol.77, n.2, pp.123-127. ISSN 0034-8597.

The case of a 32-year-old woman is reported: she was hospitalized with a severe anemia due to abnormal uterine bleeding by miomatosis. In the anamnesis, it was found that the patient had the strange behavior of ingest pieces of toilet paper soaked in benzine. The disorder of eating behavior disappeared a month after the anemia was corrected. Based on this case of pica, we review the literature on this is interesting and little studied psychopathological phenomenon
