Health personnel attending pediatric population is continually at risk of Burnout Syndrome (BOS). Objectives: To determine the frequency of BOS and levels of its dimensions in workers of Pediatric Emergency Services in Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on all workers in the Pediatric Emergency at Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia during the months of February and March 2014. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-HS, translated and validated in Spanish, was used. Results: 54 workers participated among physicians (25), nurses (16) and nursing technicians (13). The BOS rate was 3.76 % (n = 2), 12.97 % (n = 7) of participants had a high level of emotional exhaustion, 11.12% (n = 6) presented a high level of depersonalization, and 14.81% (n = 8) showed a low level of personal accomplishment. Conclusions: The lack of employment of spouse, sex, employment status and working time were statistically related to dimensions of this syndrome.
