Abstract
VEGA-DIENSTMAIER, Johann M. Estructura de la sintomatología depresiva en una muestra de mujeres con menos de un año postparto: Structure of the depressive symptomatology in a sample of women with less than 1 year postpartum. Rev Neuropsiquiatr [online]. 2015, vol.78, n.4, pp.221-231. ISSN 0034-8597.
Objectives: To explore the structure of the depressive symptomatology in postpartum women. Material and Methods: Among 321 women with less than1yearpostpartum assisting to a general hospital, links between diverse depressive symptoms and between them and major depression diagnosis were explored using tetrachoric correlations and logistic regressions. Results: The symptoms most linked between them and with the diagnosis of major depression were: fatigue, sadness, anhedonia, suicidal trends, low appetite, concentration problems, psychomotor retardation, guilt, psychomotor agitation and leaden paralysis. On the other hand, hypersomnia and increased appetite did not relate to the rest of the depressive symptoms. Conclusions: The findings suggest that in this sample of postpartum women, hypersomnia and increased appetite are not part of depressive syndrome; and that the core symptoms of depression are fatigue, sadness and anhedonia, which coincide with the three major symptoms of depression according to the ICD-10.
