Abstract

SUAREZ DOMINGUEZ, José Luis  and  VASQUEZ FERIA, Alim Getze Mani Eden. Cultural capital and internal migration trajectories of recently enrolled students at the Universidad Veracruzana. Apuntes [online]. 2021, vol.48, n.88, pp.125-150. ISSN 0252-1865.  http://dx.doi.org/10.21678/apuntes.88.1277.

In this article, we approach the migratory profile of recently admi-tted university students. Student movements have recently been recognized in the field of migration studies for their presence in highly centralized regions. The objective is to analyse this migratory modality of newly stu-dents who changed their residence to start their studies at the Universidad Veracruzana, in Mexico. Using Bourdieu's theory and a mixed methodology, we identify two groups of students according to the cultural capital they possess, which shapes school and migratory trajectories, and defines the value of university studies.
