In this article, we contribute to the construction of a regional overview of Anthropology of Health research in Latin America through the analysis of our team’s trajectory, dedicated to the ethnographic study of health-illness-attention processes in rural communities from Molinos Department (Salta, Argentina). We describe antecedents regarding classical approaches in the study of health and illness from a «medical folklore» perspective and the theoretical and methodological innovations that lead to successive transformations in our research object and the adoption of a transdisciplinary and transectoral approach. These innovations drive us to articulate several methodologies and data (ethnographic, relational, geospatial, epidemiological and demographic) in a mixed-methods design. Moreover, we reflect on how our research integrates local actors’ and institutions’ demands and interests which led us to design collaborative projects to develop technological and social innovations oriented to optimize public health interventions.
