Objective: To establish the psychosocial factors that influence the shaping of the students sexual attitudes. Material and methods: A psychosocial questionnaire and a Sexual Attitudes test of the differential semantic type were applied to 495 students from first and last year of two public highschool - one catolic and the other laic-, both from Lima’s downtown. The results were processed through a multiple lineal regression. Results and conclusions: The factors influencing the sexual atttitudes were: the degree of education, the quality of the emotional relationships with their parents and the patterns of breeding, the way of vent the tension or anger, the acceptation of the puberal growth, the sexual education and its moral, to be Catolic and the asistance to the Church. In those bred by the mother, the religiousness of the school was discriminant in alttitudes towards sexual equality rights and abortion. We obtained strategies to develop healthy sexual attitudes that could be applied at home and at school. (Rev Med Hered 1997; 8: 151-158).
