Objetive: To report the experience with antilymphocyte globulin in the treatment of severe aplastic anemia. Material and methods: We studied 58 patients with SAA between 1988-1998. Twenty five patients were treated with ALG, 56 % of them were less than 20 years old, nineteen of the patients were males. Results:We observed good response in 68% of the patients, the majority of the patients (64%) got a good response during the first 6 months of the follow up. Only one patient evolved into Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria. Side effects were mild and short in duration. (Rev Med Hered; 1999;10:132 - 136 ).
