Objective: To describe outcomes of the surgical technique in the treatment of pulmonar hydatidosis. Patients and methods: A study descriptive, retrospective and traversal. Operated patients of lung hydatidosis were included between 1989-1999 in the National Hospital Cayetano Heredia. The surgical treatment was studied (technique, reports and complications), clinical manifestations, morbility and mortality. Were studied 84 patients with 88 surgeries. The distribution for sexes was same. Mean age was 32.89±18.63 years. From Lima were 77.4%. The most frequent clinical manifestations were cough (86.9%), thoracic pain (50%) and diminished vesicular breath sounds (69%). Mean time illness was 323 days. Double Diffusion Arch Fifth was positive with 61% and Western Blot with 70%. Results: The most used techniques were parasitectomycapitonnage (28.4%) and lobectomy (28.4%). The unique cysts were 82.1% and the multiple 17.8 %. The right lung was more affected (59.6%). The cysts among 5-10cm were 51.5% and 27.3% were bigger of 10cm. The complicated cysts were 75%. 71.43% of patients had control to the high, a new cyst was found in same hemithorax of patient postoperated. Conclusions: Mortality was 4.7%. Most techniques used were parasitectomy-capitonnage and lobectomy. The radical surgery was associated with more number of intraoperatives surgical complications. The surgical major complications postoperative were 28.4%. The percentage of reoperations was 12.5%. ( Rev Med Hered 2002; 13: 3-9 ).
