Resumen

MENESES LIENDO, Víctor  y  CIEZA ZEVALLOS, Javier. Diálisis peritoneal no convencional en pacientes con insuficiencia renal que requieren soporte dialítico. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2003, vol.14, n.1, pp. 12-17. ISSN 1729-214X.

Objective: To value changes of the "milieu interieur" and associated morbidity and mortality in non conventional PD in patients with renal failure who needed dialysis. Material and methods: This is an analytic and prospective series of cases done at the Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia (HNCH) about non-conventional peritoneal dialysis (PD). We included patients with renal failure, who needed urgency or emergency dialysis enrolled in HNCH and who were entering to non conventional PD, defined as non-conventional because the number of PD replacement bags was less than 24 per day. Results: 30 patients were analyze, the findings were urea reduction rate (RR) 34.44 ± 24.85%, Kt/V of the PD 0.20 ± 0.24, variation (before and after) of potassium -1.24 ± 0.9 mEq/L, variation of HCO3 +8.30 ± 4.57 mEq/L. The urea RR and Kt/V are similar to conventional PD. Also there was normalization of serum K, HCO3 and pH; 21.26 ± 6.85 bags vs. 60 - 120 of the conventional procedure were used. Bleeding through the catheter was found in 7 patients (23.3%) and there was not either peritonitis or mortality associated to the procedure. Conclusions: Changes of the "milieu interieur" were similar between non-conventional and conventional PD. The morbidity was because of catheter placement and there was not peritonitis either associated mortality. (Rev Med Hered 2003; 14:12-17).
