TAMARIZ ORTIZ, Jesús Humberto; CAPCHA MENDOZA, Roberto; PALOMINO CADENAS, Edwin Julio  e  AGUILAR OLANO, José. Actividad antibacteriana de la Sangre de Grado (Croton lechleri) frente al Helicobacter pylori. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2003, vol.14, n.2, pp.81-88. ISSN 1018-130X.

Actually it is accepted the pathogenic role of Helicobacter pylori in the generation of gastritis and gastric ulcer, as well as the direct relation among the eradication of the bacteria and the absence of complications and subsequent recurrences. Considering the anti-ulcerogenic activity attributed to the "Sangre de grado" (Croton lechleri). Objective: To determine the antibacterial activity of the "sangre de grado" against the bacteria. Material and methods: Our work has been done with 41 strains of Helicobacter pylori of clinical origin and four different presentations of "Sangre de grado". In a first phase the inhibiting effect of the growth was determined in a qualitative way. Subsequently the minimum inhibitory concentration was determined (MIC) as well as the minimum bactericide concentration (CMB) of the "Sangre de grado" against the bacteria. Results: The results shown that the "Sangre de grado" in high concentrations inhibits the growth of Helicobacter pylori. The antibacterial effect of the concentrated product was determined. Conclusion: These results suggest that the healing activity of "Sangre de grado" tested in previous studies and complemented with the antibacterial activity determined in the present study, would be the responsible for the curative capacity of this product in gastric ulcers.
