Objectives: To determine long-term consequences and complications of vasectomy and its acceptation among population. Material and Methods: In this descriptive study 50 vasectomy users were included between February 1997 and September 1998 at the Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia. Results: In 8% of vasectomy users, complications were found, infection and inflammation in the incision zone (6%) and mild pain in any testes (2%). This method was well accepted in 94% users. In patients, who did not show acceptation of vasectomy, 2 (4%) got pregnant their wives after 8 and 14 months after the procedure respectively. One (2%) had bad post-surgery period. Conclusion: Vasectomy, as sterilization procedure, because its low frequency of complications is an well-accepted procedure. (Rev Med Hered 2004;15:131-135).
