Abstract

VERA ROSAS, Francisco  and  MANCILLA MANCILLA, Luis. Surgical treatment of unstable pelvis fractures: Series Report. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2006, vol.17, n.1, pp.15-20. ISSN 1018-130X.

Objective: To evaluate surgical treatment of unstable pelvis fractures by means of different fixation methods according to the type of fracture. Material and methods: It is a longitudinal descriptive study of 49 patients with unstable fracture of pelvis treated surgically at the Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia from January 1994 to January 2004, the final evaluation took place using the Hannover Politrauma scale. Results: According AO Classification 27 were type B fractures and 22 type C. The most vulnerable group was from 21 to 30 years old, 68% were male, according to the Hannover scale of clinical and radiological evaluation in type B fractures, 17 (63%) had excellent results, 8 (29%) good, and 2 (8%) regular, whereas in the type C, 6 (27%) were excellent, 9 (41%) good, 5 (23%) regular and 2 (9%) bad . Conclusions: Surgical treatment of unstable pelvis fractures is treatment of election at the present time decreasing morbility and achieving good functional results.(Rev Med Hered 2006;17:15-20).
