Resumen

Objective: To determine the prevalence, productive indicators and costs of the main diseases in healthcare workers. Material and methods: Workers were interviewed by self-assessment validated questionnaire. Results: Most frequency diseases in workers were: respiratory diseases with 27%, migraine or cephalalgy and spine diseases 15%, abdominal pain and allergic rhinitis 12%, depression/anxiety and acute diarrheic disease (EDA) 9% and, asthma and coronary disease in 1%. Absenteeism represented 29% of lost total time by disease and were the musculoskeletical disorders with 34.78 days, migraine or heat pain 23.34 days and disease cardiac 16.63 days, the diseases that caused absenteeism in the population. Presenteeism represented 71% of lost time by disease and were spine disorders with 120.55 days, depression or anxiety 53.24 days, migraine or heat pain 52.35, respiratory diseases 44.35 days, allergic rhinitis 25.2 days, abdominal pain 19.5 days, EDA 15.21 days and cardiac disease 1.85 days the disease that caused presenteeism in the population. With respect to the costs, direct costs were 9552.94 dollars, indirect costs were 24 596.00 dollars. We considered the presenteeism cost were of 17 561.7 dollars and absenteeism costs 7 034.3 dollars. Conclusions: Diseases with highest prevalence were respiratory diseases, migraine and back disorders, and the most expensive disease were spine disorders, cephalalgy or migraine and anxiety o depressive disorders, all of them caused a lot of loss to hospital, in addition preseentism was 3 times greater that absenteeism and indirect costs were 2.5 times greater that direct ones.
