Abstract

Paracoccidioidomycosis is the most prevalent mycosis in South America. Acute form affect mononuclear phagocytic system of children and inmunocompromissed people. The gastrointestinal affection is frequent, its pathogeny involucres haematogenous and lymphatic dissemination. Abdominal lymphadenomegaly cause intestinal obstruction and acute abdomen. We give to know the case of a child with gastrointestinal compromise with appendicitis. This is the first report in the literature of appendicitis for this pathology. (Rev Med Hered 2006;17:58-60).
