TICSE AGUIRRE, Ray et al. Mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC) syndrome secondary to Brucellosis: A case report. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2007, vol.18, n.1, pp.34-38. ISSN 1018-130X.
Brucellosis produces diverse clinical manifestations many of which are secondary to alterations of the immune system triggered by this infection. We present the case of a patient, 71 years old female, admitted for a clinical picture of fever and purpura, in whom we diagnosed Mixed Cryoglobulinemia Syndrome secondary to brucellosis. This is the fifth case that is reported in the world. Even though the most frequent cause of purpura secondary to mixed cryoglobulinemia is Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection, brucellosis has to be ruled out especially when the patient comes complaining of fever.(Rev Med Hered 2007;18:34-38).
