Abstract

The medical student is exposed to many sources of stress that make him more suceptible to suffer different mental disorders. All this has been purpose of different studies. The MINI (M: Mini I: International N: Neuropsychiatric I: Interview) in the written format has 15 modules that explore different diagnosis and its Peruvian version has been recently validated. Objective: To determine the frequency of mental disorders in third year medical students of a private university. Material and methods: The MINI was applied to third year students with a data collection document and previous inform consent. We obtained the results of MILLON applied in annual medical exam. Results: We get a response rate of 68.1%. We found 41.8% as frequency of mental disorders, outstanding the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (27.84%). The frequency of probable personality disorders was 80% outstanding the Compulsive type (48.5%). Conclusion: We obtained considerable results of mental disorders outstanding Generalized Anxiety and the probable Compulsive personality disorder, but they have to be confirmed with future psychiatric interviews.
