COSSIO-BOLANOS, Marco Antonio y ARRUDA, Miguel. Proposal of normative values for the assessment of physical fitness in children aged 6 to 12 years in Arequipa, Peru. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2009, vol.20, n.4, pp.206-212. ISSN 1018-130X.
Physical fitness is approached from two angles: in relation to health and motor performance, and its evaluation should be through standardized physical tests. Objective: Propose a battery of physical tests for children 6 to 12 years in Arequipa, Perú. Material and Methods: 239 children were selected on a probabilistic (stratified), where 119 boys and 120 girls of average socioeconomic public schools in the urban area of the city of Arequipa ranging from six to twelve years, which is applied five tests of physical fitness (flexibility, abdominal, horizontal jump, speed and aerobic endurance). Results: The results show that the five physical fitness tests show optimal values of technical error of measurement (ETM) and reliability (reproducibility). Conclusions: suggets the use of these tests with their respective cutoff points (Rev Med Hered 2009; 20:206-212).
