OSADA, Jorge; LOYOLA-SOSA, Steev y BERROCAL, Alfredo. Time for evaluation and implementation of research projects from a school of medicine in a private university in Peru. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.1, pp.13-21. ISSN 1729-214X.
Summary: To describe the time of evaluation and implementation of research projects in a private university in Peru. Methods: Retrospective study. Research projects registered during 2008 in the research office of the School of Medicine at the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, with 1.5 to 2.5 years of follow-up were included. Data were collected focusing on the processes involved. Results: There were 117 studies. 58.13 % were completed with a completion rate of 44.25 per 100 - year studies. The median duration of these studies was 1 year-2 months, showing a non-normal distribution with a significant positive tail suggestive of a non-continuous development studies. The group with the highest project presentation was the sixth year undergraduates 48/117 (41.03%). There was a large percentage of projects completed in residency students and clinical undergraduates (6th and 7th year), but not in the pre - clinical undergraduate (1st-5th year). A direct and statistically significant correlation was found between the number of mentors and the culmination of work (chi2, p = 0.02). Conclusions: The follow-up of research projects is important because it provides information that improves the whole processes. Institutional rules affect the completion of studies. Therefore, it is important to optimize them permanently.
