College dropout is a complex phenomenon that exists in all socioeconomic levels and in different professions; in human medicine schools is an indicator of the quality of education provided. In the first, the dropout rate of students from 2006-2014, was determined, based on information from the academic records office. In the second phase, students who dropped medical school were interviewed with a 13 closed items questionnaire, validated by experts and pilot study. Results: 739 students were admitted to medicine school; the overall dropout rate was 52.3%, more in women than in men (p=0,001). The frequency of dropout during first year was: 13.5% ± 4.7; only 26.7% completed their studies in their original promotion. The promotion with the greatest frequency of dropout was the fifth (2013)(62.5%).
