PULIDO-COLINA, Angie e SOTO PASTRANA, Javier. Antimicrobial susceptibility of Streptococcus agalactiae in a maternal and infant hospital in Lima, Peru. 2015-2020. Rev Med Hered [online]. 2022, vol.33, n.3, pp.196-200. Epub 03-Nov-2022. ISSN 1018-130X. http://dx.doi.org/10.20453/rmh.v33i3.4340.
Objective
: To determine the antimicrobial susceptibility of S. agalactiae (SA) strains isolated from 2015-2020 in a maternal-infant hospital in Lima, Peru.
Methods
: A descriptive study was carried-out from 2015 to 2020. Identification and susceptibility were performed using Vitek®2. Data base was transferred to the WHONET version 5.6 program; 506 isolates were analyzed. Results: 500 (98.8%) were females; mean age was 31.9 ± 11.8 years. All strains were susceptible to penicillin, ampicillin and vancomycin. Resistance to erythromycin, clindamycin and levofloxacin were 38.5%, 37.4% and 28%, respectively, showing the highest value in 2018.
Conclusions
: An increase in resistance of SA to antimicrobials was observed, especially in 2018.
