In order to solve this problem, the chemical-mechanical method for the elimination of the carious tissue, is a conservative and effective alternative since it avoids the use of anesthetics and rotary instruments. According to studies, this method is more accepted by patients compared to the traditional method. This paper aims to present a clinical case of the use of papain gel (Papacárie ®) for the chemical-mechanical removal of carious tissue in permanent teeth.
