Abstract

The objective of this literature review is to identify orthodontic and orthopedic studies in animal models. Describing its methodology, analyzing the results and comparing the different studies. The frequent use of experimental animals has allowed the development of biomedicine throughout the history of mankind. The most widely used study model in animal model medicine and dentistry research has been rats. The most studied fields are orthodontics; interaction of orthodontic movements with other biological processes or influencing agents such as surgeries, taking medications or diseases. On the other hand, in the orthopedic area, it has not presented as much research in animal models, so it could be an area to be developed in future research.
