Abstract

COSTOLA, Andresa. The elaboration of the Common National Curricular Base policy in Brazil: Insights to consider. Educación [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.62, pp.98-120.  Epub May 18, 2023. ISSN 1019-9403.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18800/educacion.202301.005.

In Brazil, we have witnessed several business movements acting as key players in the discussion of educational policies formulated over the last 7 years. The purpose of this intervention is to explore education as a new economic frontier and to train a new generation of workers to meet the demands of 21st-century capitalism. Our objective is to explore the role of the Brazilian business movement in building a consensus around the need to create a new curricular policy, the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), particularly the actors’ role in the Mobilization for the National Learning Standards (MNLS). We will present a brief history that demonstrates how this sector has been a catalyst in this debate and will address the concept of quality proposed by this reform.

Keywords : curriculum; education; educational policy; right to education.
