Abstract

Objetive. It is a Master's research clipping developed at the Graduate Program in Information Science from the Federal University of Bahia (PPGCI / UFBA). The research addresses the information literacy of library science course graduates in northeastern Brazil. To achieve this, outlined as general objective to analyze the information competence of graduates of Library Science course in the Northeast of Brazil, specifically sought to characterize the mentioned graduates of the 2004-2014 period and verify the ability of graduates to set information needs. This is a descriptive research with survey method (survey), combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. Methodology. The data collection instrument was the Survey questionnaire, prepared in accordance with the Standards of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and in the light of literature. The population of this research are the graduates nine higher education institutions (HEIs) federal housing the course of librarianship, however, the sample consisted of 237 participants. Results. Data were organized in five thematic categories, however, this study analyzed will be the first two categories. Conclusions. It follows, therefore, that in general the graduates have acquired throughout their training skills that are essential to their professional practice, however, there are aspects to be improved.
