Abstract

BALDRICH ROMERO, Nicolás Ernesto; AROCA BARBOSA, Giselle; HOYOS MARTINEZ, Santiago  and  PATINO QUIROZ, Beatriz Elena. Homeopathic treatment on cauda equine syndrome in a feline. Rev. investig. vet. Perú [online]. 2021, vol.32, n.1, e16082. ISSN 1609-9117.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15381/rivep.v32i1.16082.

A female mongrel feline with neuromotor disorder in the right pelvic limb, behavioural disturbance and urinary and faecal incontinence was taken to the Small Animal Clinic of the Universidad de la Amazonia (Colombia). The tests performed showed renal infection and Mycoplasma spp. A ventro-dorsal radiography of the lumbosacral region showed bilateral sacro-iliac dislocation and consequent compression of the nerve roots of the vertebral canal, compatible with cauda equina syndrome. The implementation of a therapeutic protocol with 1% procaine plus Neuralgo® and Inmul-V® (neural therapy), with 0.1 ml applications in each intervertebral space and in the femoral nerve of the affected limb, in addition to Cannabis sativa as an analgesic and physical therapies allowed the recovery of the almost total functionality of the member in three weeks. This protocol reduced recovery time and the presentation of side effects in the patient.

Keywords : cauda equina; homeopathy; neural therapy; Cannabis sativa.
