A juvenile Sechuran fox (Lycalopex sechurae) was found in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad (Peru). The animal presented hyper keratinization in the nose and during the quarantine period developed neurological signs. Based on the clinical signs, the rapid immunochromatography test, the post mortem examination and the histopathological lesions, the diagnosis of canine distemper was confirmed. This is the first report of histopathological lesions associated with distemper in this species.
