ESPIN-ITURBE, Teresa et al. Surgical alternative for recovery bulls with severe obstructive phimosis. Rev. investig. vet. Perú [online]. 2023, vol.34, n.5, e24650.  Epub 31-Out-2023. ISSN 1609-9117.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15381/rivep.v34i5.24650.

Phimosis usually develops secondary to a case of acroposthitis. It generally begins as an acute inflammation of the preputial mucosa that is accompanied by oedema, involvement of the submucosa, and damage to the connective tissue, which, to recover, synthesizes collagen and generates fibrous tissue, which causes narrowing of the preputial lumen and prevents the exit of the penis. An alternative surgical technique is presented to treat cases of phimosis in zebu bulls with damage or loss of a large amount of preputial mucosa, in which traditional treatment techniques are no longer successful.

Palavras-chave : surgery; stenosis; fibrosis; inflammation; preputial meatus.
