PAURO R., Juan J., GONZALES M., Florencio, GAMARRA C., Brenda M. et al. Plantas alimenticias, medicinales y biocidas de las comunidades de Muñani y Suatia, provincia de Lampa (Puno - Perú). Ecol. apl., jan./agos. 2011, vol.10, no.1, p.41-49. ISSN 1726-2216.

This research was developed from November to December 2004 and from January to March 2005, in the communities of Muñani (Suni natural region) and Suatía (Puna natural region) in the province of Lampa (Puno region). The objective was to determine plant species richness and to assess their use as food, medicine and biocide in both communities. To determine plant richness random 1m2 plots were established; in order to evaluate plants uses, surveys were conducted aimed at older inhabitants. Comparing the plant diversity in both communities, the Shannon - Weaner index was 2.2963 for Suatia and 2.4964 for Muñani. Applying the significance test, there is a significant difference between both communities (P < 0.05). Information collected on the use of ethnobotanical plants rendered the following: 15 food species, 56 medicinal and 6 biocidal plants were found for Suatía community; in Muñani 4 food species and 25 medicinal plants were found.
