PARIENTE, Elí; CHAVEZ, Jorge  and  REYNEL, Carlos. Evaluation of potential tourism in Huarango district-San Ignacio, Cajamarca-Peru. Ecol. apl. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.1, pp.37-46. ISSN 1726-2216.

This study was conducted with the aim of contributing to the development of tourism, given the natural, cultural and archaeological wealth in this zone. It highlights the potential of tourism to provide an additional income source to the agricultural activities of local producers. For this, important touristic attractions and existing services were identified, as well as the potential activities to be developed. The attitude of those involved in the possible development of tourism projects was also evaluated. Among the most important results, new touristic attractions are reported for the Huarango district: Peroles de Piedra, Cerro Campana, Cerro Pizarra, Caverna de Incas, and Corral de los Incas. Additionally, possible observations of flora and fauna, recreation, environmental education, agrotourism and experiential tourism are documented.

Keywords : experiential tourism; agritourism; evaluation of the potential.
