CONTRERAS-LOPEZ, Manuel e FIGUEROA-NAGEL, Pablo. Finding of Xenopus laevis D. (AMPHIBIA: ANURA) at Mantagua Wetland (32°51'S; 71°30'W) as a consequence of a tsunami in Central Chile. Ecol. apl. [online]. 2020, vol.19, n.1, pp.43-48. ISSN 1726-2216. http://dx.doi.org/10.21704/rea.v19i1.1439.
Two dead specimens of Xenopus laevis were found among the remains left by the wave of near-field tsunami on September 16, 2015, in the Mantagua wetland estuary in central Chile. One specimen was confirmed as an adult female and the other presumably an adult male. Both specimens were deposited in the National Museum of Natural History of Chile. This finding confirms the presence of this invasive species north of Aconcagua River, supporting the hypothesis of overland expansion of this invasive species.
