In Peru, Choquequirao is an ancient Inca archaeological complex, considered a type of Natural Protected Area (NPA), similar to the Machu Picchu archaeological complex. Despite recent improvements, the NPA still lacks being an important tourist attraction. In this study, it was used an “Ordered Multinomial Logit” model, based on the “Conjoint Analysis” economic approach, to obtain a Willingness to Pay (WTP) of US $11.5 per tourist, in addition to the current entrance fee. Likewise, it was estimated that a total of US $ 80 718.5 can be collected annually, which could contribute to the fulfillment of strategic conservation and tourism objectives of the NPA.

Keywords : environmental policies; natural protected areas; sustainable development; willingness to pay; economic valuation; archaeological sites improvements.
