Abstract

BATTISTINI M, German  and  HERRER, Arístides. Intradermo-reaccion en la Leishmaniosis Tegumentaria en el Perú. III. La prueba intradérmica con "leishmanina" en el hombre. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1945, vol.4, n.2, pp.109-116. ISSN 1726-4634.

The "Leishmanina" antigen, in dilutions of 1/2.5and 1/5, in a dose of 0.1 cc., has been tried in intradermal skin test on human beings with the following results 1. The reaction was negative on healthy people used as controls. 2. The reaction was obviously positive not only in cases of skin leishmaniasis with actual lesion but also in old scar processes. The reaction is characterized chiefly by the presence of edema slightly convex and erythema, the intensity of this reaction varies according to dilution of antigen and individuals; in some cases occur lymphangitis, ganglionar infarct, general disturbance and slight rise of temperature. The readings should be made 24, 48 and 72 hours; the reaction remains although its intensity diminished until the 4th. and 5th. day after which begin to disappear. On the other hand the lymphangitis remains longer and dissapear usually between the 5th. and 7th. day. 3. The reaction was also negative in cases of disease from diverse etiological origen, -different to leishmaniasis-, among others some cutaneous diseasses.
