Abstract

AYULO R, Victor M. Estudios sobre Bartonellosis. Bartonellosis Murina.: I. Acción de la Penicilina en la Bartonellosis Murina. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1948, vol.7, n.1-4, pp.26-35. ISSN 1726-4634.

The action of Penicillin has been studied with regard to its therapeutic value in murine bartonellosis in: the pre-invasive and invasive periods of the disease, before and after splenectomy respectively, in the albino rat of the INH stock. From this investigation the following conclusions are infered: 1. -Penicillin does not show any therapeutic action in murine bartonellosis, since no deflection of the normal course of the disease was observed in the experimental animals; either with regard to the percentaqe of infected red blood cells and mortality rate or other symtoms such as haemoglobinuria, etc. 2. - Administration of Penicillin prior to splenectomy in B. muris, carrier rats does not avoid the development of the disease, which follows its normal course.
