Abstract

AYULO R., Victor M.. Estudios sobre Bartonellosis. Bartonellosis Murina.: II.- Cultivo de la Bartonella Muris. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1948, vol.7, n.1-4, pp.36-43. ISSN 1726-4634.

The following conclusions are derived from the in vitro study of Bartonella muris: 1.- In vitro culture of Bartonella muris is readily feasible. 2.- A culture medium for B. muris is described. 3.- Presence of rat haemolyzed serum in such medium is essential for the growth of B. muris. 4.- Using Penicillin in the inoculation of culture media prevents growth of contaminating organisms, such as Staphylococci, which inhibit growth of B. muris in such media. 5..- Penicillin does not inhibit growth of B. muris in vitro. 6.- Intraperitoneal inoculation of B. muris cultures in rats free of Bartonellae induces development of murine bartonellosis.
