Abstract

AYULO R., Victor M.; DAMMERT T., Olga; BATTISTINI VARGAS, Carlos  and  MIRO-QUESADA C., Oscar. Estudios sobre Bartonellosis. Bartonellosis Murina: III. Accion del extrato total de bazo homologo en la bartonellosis Murina. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1948, vol.7, n.1-4, pp.44-54. ISSN 1726-4634.

With the aim of clarifying the multiple and contradictory results that appear in the literature on the spleen protective action in Bartonella muris infections a series of experiments has been planned beginning with the study of the therapeutic action of total rat Spleen Saline Extract (EBAS), arriving at the following conclusions: 1. The Homologous rat Spleen Saline Total Extract (EBAS) does not modify the normal course of murine bartonellosis as far as the porcentage of infected red blood cells, mortality and other symptoms, such as haemoglobinuria, of the experimental animals is concerned. 2. The date after splenectomy in wich the treatment begins is, of such paramount importance that it may be said it underlies the result of such experiments. 3. The statistical analysis of the experimental data shows beyond doubt that the Total Homolegous Rat Spleen Saline Extract has no antibartonella action for the albino rat of the INH strain.
