Abstract

AGUILAR CELI, Polinéstor. Contribución al estudio botánico y clínico de las, Tiñas en el Perú. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1948, vol.7, n.1-4, pp.75-93. ISSN 1726-4634.

1.- 152 cases of Tinea capitis were studied and identified, belonging to, the following genera and species:   Genera Species N° human de cases Trichophyton T. tonsurans 120 T. mentagrophytes 7 T. violaceum 1  Microsporum M. canis 24   2.- Contamination is more frequent in schools, especially Trichophytosis, giving: small patches which are easily hidden by the hair comb and hence overlooked. 3.- The greatest percentage of Ringworm of the scalp was found in the age group between 7 and 12 years old, prevailing the genus Trichophyton. 4.- In most cases where Trichophyton metagrophytes was isolated the children lived in the country or had had contact with dogs, cabs or horses. The same holds true for the Microsporosis. 5.- In two cultures of Trichophyton tonsurans variations in the colony's shape were observed. The mycological study of all the variations found revealed no fundamental differences. At present, the aspect of the giant colony is not accepted as a criterion for classification of varieties. 6.- Microsporum Audouini has not been found, as the literature decribes for others localities; in its place Microsporum canis was identified. 7.- Eight cases of Kerion due to Trichophyton tonsurans were diagnosed.
