1. There is reported the isolation of H. capsulatum from one of four specimens of soil from the "Cueva de las Lechuzas" at Tingo María, Perú. 2. The isolation was made from soil coIlected in the area of the cave where the nocturnal fruit-eating S. caripensis is most abundant. 3. The significance of the presence of H. capsulatum in the soil and its relationship to "Tingo María Fever" are discussed.
