Abstract

HERRER, Arístides; BATTISTINI, Germán  and  LICERAS, Julia. Presencia de la Leptospira Bataviae en el Perú. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1957, vol.11, n.1-2, pp.29-33. ISSN 1726-4634.

A strain of Leptospira bataviae was isolated from the kidney of a female dog captured in the city of Lima. Since this is the first instance of isolation of this serotype in Peru, an epidemiological survey was conducted to determine, if possible, the source of the infection. Fifteen ( 15) persons and eleven ( 11 ) domestic animals, in the vecinity of where the dog lived, were examined for the presence of antibodies against L. bataviae. Only the blood of the dog’s owner gave serological evidence of specific antibodies.
