Abstract

TEJADA, Abelardo  and  LLANOS, Bertha. Presencia del Triatoma infestans en la ciudad de Lima. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1958, vol.12, n.1-2, pp.90-98. ISSN 1726-4634.

Triatoma infestans, the vector of Chagas' disease, has been detected in ten houses situated in the poor section of Lima. Ninety-nine specimens (adults and nymphs) and 148 eggs were collected. No Trypanosoma cruzi were isolated from any of the intestinal contents or feces of the specimens. This is the first instance in which T. infestans has been found in the city of Lima. It is believed that this new focus of infestation found its origin in the southern part of Peru, where many localities are infested with T. infestans.
