ACOSTA, Manuel. Preferencias alimenticias del Anopheles pseudopunctipennis y A. triannulatus en el Perú. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1960, vol.13, n.1-2, pp.77-83. ISSN 1726-4634.
By means of the precipitin test, during August to, November, 1958, the feeding habits of Anopheles pseudopunctipennis and A. triannulatus were investigated in Perú. The principal results obtained were as follows: 1 . In one series, A. pseudopunctipennis of two different geographic regions and inmune sera belonging to man and various animais were used, with the following results: a) the mosquito does not show uniformity in its preference for man; and b) cow and dog are the principal animals in which, beside man, feeds A. pseudopunctipennis. 2. In another series, in which only anti-human serum was used, A. pseudopunctipennis showed anti-human precipitins from 87.3 to 100.0 %. 3. In only 0.5% of A. triannulatus anti-human precipitins were demonstrated. 4. It is discussed the circurastances, or factors which determine the preference of feeding habits of. A. pseudoptitictipennis and A. triannulatus.
