Abstract

HERRER, Arístides; LICERAS DE HIDALGO, Julia  and  MENESES, Oswaldo. Nota preliminar sobre leptospirosis en los cerdos del Perú. Rev. perú. med. exp. salud publica [online]. 1960, vol.13, n.1-2, pp.119-123. ISSN 1726-4634.

In connection with the investigations carried on with leptospirosis in peruvian swines by the Instituto Nacional de Salud, a preliminary report is given with the following results: 1. 500 pigs were studied between june and October, 1960, trying to verify leptospiral antibodies and to isolate by culture the infecting strains. 2. Antibodies were observed in 99 (20%) of 494 pigs, mostly against L. autumnalis, L. pomona and L. hyos. 3. Eight isolated strains of leptospira obtained in culture were identified as L. hyos (5), L. pomona (2) and L. canicola (1).
